Do you want responsibility for developing people and optimizing processes in a core part of Novo Nordisk’s R&D organisation. You will be part of a highly competent development team within the field of protein and peptide API process development.
About the department
The team, Downstream Development, is part of the department Up- and Downstream Development that employs 52 people. The department is responsible for process development of new drug substance candidates for the entire diabetes development portfolio at Novo Nordisk. This includes microbial cultivation, recovery and purification. The Downstream Development team is responsibility for picking up new projects from our research unit, develop the downstream process and transfer the process to our pilot facility.
The job
As Team leader in Downstream Development you are the leader of 13 highly skilled and motivated employees, 6 scientists and 7 technicians. The team develop purification processes for our new clinical candidates, and constantly challenge themselves to increase and optimize our processes. A key for success working in early drug development is innovation, both in terms of securing API supply to our internal customers and in terms of developing state-of-the art technology to support the future drug development portfolio in Novo Nordisk. You are overall responsible for day-to-day operations in the team, including planning the process development and allocating people and resources to secure Novo Nordisk’s drug development projects. You act as scientific competent sparring partner to your team - coaching and empowering employees to deliver excellent results. You lead and embrace changes and exhibit a structured and convincing approach that supports a LEAN culture where continuous improvement is a natural part of everyday work.
Qualifications
You have solid managerial experience from a similar role in a pharmaceutical company and your experience is backed by a relevant Master or PhD degree within a relevant field of expertise. You have solid working experience from a pharmaceutical organization and you possess solid knowledge within protein chemistry as well as with the techniques involved in protein purification. You set and communicate a clear direction for your team. You display a high level of personal engagement, drive, persistence and integrity. You find it rewarding to work towards reaching your goals while also engaging in activities beyond your own team.
