Job Description PURPOSE:
Provides management, coaching, mentorship and direction & guidance to a team of Diabetes Educators. Responsible for the administrative and management support of field-based Diabetes Education Program at Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI). Accountable to ensure proper execution of training program by DEs.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Position reports to the Director, Diabetes Education Program. Has direct field management responsibility for field-based Diabetes Educators (DEs). Internally, effectively collaborates with home office, sales, marketing, medical and legal personnel. External relationships include patients & healthcare providers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure that reporting personnel have annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
• Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
• Ensure that the Individual Developmental Plan forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
• Coach and develop DEs and ensure that overall team objectives are being met.
• Ensure the proper and timely documentation/communication of coaching sessions through the use of Field Coaching Worksheets.
• Mentor and build the talents of DE team members particularly with respect to knowledge of technical and product information, business practices and communication skills.
• Ensure that DE personnel understands the ADA standards of care and that their work is focused on those standards.
• Coordinate with other DE managers to ensure consistency of training and development approach across different areas while customizing initiatives to best fit the unique needs of direct reports.
• Responsible for ensuring and tracking compliance with regulatory/legal mandates.
• Provide leadership for ongoing training support for DEs in the areas of responsibility as needed.
• Collaborate with Director DEP to implement strategies of the NNI Diabetes Education Program.
• Works with the Director, to identify educational needs and implements tactics to support training needs in each area of responsibility.
• Assists Director with planning and Delivering presentations for POA meetings.
• Provide overall support of DE educational needs.
• Evaluates appropriate use and allocation of resources to ensure attainment of program goals.
• Responsible for effectively managing budget within targets.
• Works on problems within District scope.
• Establishes, oversees implementation, and monitors adherence to administrative policies and procedures.
• Analyze, review and provide monthly report on DE activities for direct reports in districts to Director.
• Review and audit direct reports’ expense reports. Exercise prudent control of field expenses.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Approximately 35% - 70% overnight travel depending upon district
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license and obey all applicable traffic laws.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• A Bachelor’s degree required.
• A minimum of 5 years progressive health-care or pharmaceutical industry experience required. DEP or other relevant NNI experience preferred.
• Prior management and/or team leadership experience preferred.
