Job Description PURPOSE:

This Editor position covers a full range of editorial services, including copyediting, proofreading, and ensuring consistency at all stages for marketing and educational material. The position is responsible for material from initial submission to final approval within the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory Review Board (PRB (Promotional Review Board)) process. Includes ensuring accuracy of copy, layout, and references for print proof or final production review for all Marketing Operations managed production projects. This positions acts as the primary recorder of all comments in the Promotional Review Board (PRB) meeting. The position is also responsible for PRB meeting minutes and other key data capture. May participate in ad hoc projects as needed.

In addition to doing a pre-read of all material, the Editor captures all involved parties’ comments during PRB meeting reviews and will ensure those comments are clear and concise. Similar tasks will take place on electronic reviews for conciseness and clarity of commentary.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to Associate Manager of Editorial services and interacts primarily with Diabetes and BioPharm Marketing; Reviewers from Medical, Legal, Regulatory; Marketing Operations Planners, Managers of Marketing Operations and Production/Distribution colleagues. External relationships include related agencies and vendors that submit materials into PRB for review.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Copyedits marketing and educational materials in accordance with AMA and Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) style
• Ensures accuracy of spelling, grammar and consistency , clarity of style usage
• Reviews iterative draft submissions to ensure that requested changes have been included in the Material (check changes)
• Ensures consistency across similar material, guiding agencies and advocates on correct usage of style.
• Reviews final submission and confirms all changes incorporated prior to final approval before Material is sent for production.
• Reviews all print proofs to ensure piece accurately reflects PRB comments and is error free.
• Guides agency partners and advocates in annotating and referencing Material as well as clarifying commentary , as needed
• Determines if NNI style guidelines (for brand or corporate) have been accurately implemented
• Participates in Promotional Review Board Meetings and accurately captures PRB participant’s feedback during meeting. Provides input to comments in meeting to ensure comments are grammatically correct.
• Utilizes electronic system to add comments and manage workflow.
• Communicates regularly with the reviewers, advocates ,and agencies, as well as collaborates with Marketing Operations colleagues, in relation to submitted Material.
• Clarifies medical-, legal-, and regulatory-required verbiage, ensuring consistency across brands and campaigns.
• Provides guidance on and checks for proper usage of Novo Nordisk Corporate Visual Identity within submitted Material
• Determines if NNI style guidelines have been accurately implemented
• Ensures editorial accuracy of reviewed Material.
• Signs off, within the electronic workflow system, on all Material based on PRB review outcomes and needed next step.

• Utilizes templates and captures meeting data related to start/end time, length of review for each item, meeting attendance, meeting outcome and minutes.
• Captures personal daily volume and outcome metrics for reporting
• Assists with Monthly PRB reports as well as additional ad-hoc reports
• Contributes to process improvement within Editorial
• Provides editorial input into material created internally by all levels of employees for Material that may or may not require PRB.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• A Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.

• At least 5 years related experience in the development or delivery of marketing or other promotional materials within the pharmaceutical industry

• Editing experience required

• Must be deadline oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

• Must be highly organized and attentive to details.

• Copyediting certification preferred, but not required

• Excellent command of the English language and good writing/communication skills required as this role will need to make grammatical edits and spelling corrections to pieces

• High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently and under tight deadlines

• Complete knowledge of medical and marketing language, AMA style (10th Edition), proofreading marks and symbols, and pharmaceutical promotional phrasing.

• Complete knowledge of AMA style guide, understanding of promotional guidelines. FDA/OPDP regulatory requirements relevant to advertising and promotions, and basic knowledge of pre-press processes.
