Title Systems Engineer II - Web Hosting

Job Description PURPOSE:
Supports the daily operations, maintenance and administration of NNI information systems, specifically those used for external-facing web site hosting. Demonstrates expertise of current technology NNI systems and develops, recommends, and implements system enhancements.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to a Manager in Client Services. Works closely with NNI IT Operations employees, IT&CD, external vendors and other IT Groups.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
DEVELOPS & MAINTAINS SYSTEMS, APPLICATIONS & INFRASTRUCTURE
• Performs daily system operational interaction with outsourced hosting provider
• Monitors performance, plan appropriate capacity, and ensure security at outside environment
• Providers support for application owners hosting websites within the environment.
• Configures, monitors and troubleshoots hardware or software within web hosting.
MANAGES IT VENDORS
• Acts as a liaison between the business or function and vendor to provide updates and ensure alignment.
• Monitors vendor activities to ensure compliance with contract expectations.
UNDERSTANDS & APPLIES RISK MANAGEMENT PRACTICES
• Documents standards related to web hosting infrastructure, including development tools, security requirements, and access control.
• Ensures standards are followed and coordinate testing of web sites and applications.
• Ensures processes, projects and systems meet the requirements of established risk management practices.
• Leverages knowledge of risk management standards for current processes, projects and systems.
ANALYZES & FULFILLS BUSINESS NEEDS
• Partners with stakeholders to assess, develop and implement solutions to meet their business needs.
• Updates internal brand teams on progress of deployments and participate in planning sessions.
• Works with outside development partners to grant access for testing, and coordinate promotion of code to production environment.
BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS & INFLUENCES KEY STAKEHOLDERS
• Delivers messages and presentations in a clear confident manner.
• Provides counsel to business leaders and stakeholders regarding IT policies, solutions and initiatives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Approximately 5% overnight travel
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible Computer Science, IT, programming/systems analysis or other related experience required. A BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Electrical Engineering or other related field required. Solid relevant experience may be substituted when appropriate. Advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrates leadership capabilities.
• Ability to solve difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.
• Knowledge of networking technologies, protocols, security methods (intrusion detection, prevention and computer security), and remote communication technologies.
• Extensive knowledge of systems administration (planning and coordinating installations, testing, configuration, day-to–day operational support, troubleshooting, monitoring, security, and maintenance of hardware and software systems).
• Knowledge of database development life cycle (DDLC), including designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting relational databases.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, HP/UX, Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of application, software (SDLC) and business development.
