Job Description PURPOSE:
This role analyzes/codifies requirements and works with application service partners to design and develop application solutions and/or enhancements to existing application solutions to meet new business needs/solve business problems in multichannel marketing. This role possesses and applies a broad range of expertise regarding principles, methods, practices, standards, procedures and compliance requirements of multichannel marketing in both design and development of complex IT solutions. In the support role of existing systems, this role provides knowledge and training on application/system use and interfaces with business users in understanding and providing resolutions to system related issues and discrepancies. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural and operating standards and requirements.

Systems supported by this role include, but are not limited to externally-hosted Novo Nordisk Inc. multichannel marketing applications for both Diabetes and BioPharmaceuticals: Interface Programs, Campaign Management (Epsilon/Appature), HCP Relationship Management, Patient Relationship Management. and Managed Markets Execution (Apparture Revere).

RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Applications Development – Multichannel Marketing Systems. This position interacts with all levels of Project Managers, Business Analysts, other Systems Analysts, Application Developers, Architects and System Engineers (including those at application service providers) as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Delivers messages and presentations in a clear, confident manner.
• Builds trusting, collaborative relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, which help accomplish key business objectives.
• Conducts post-implementation reviews, measures system KPIs, and assesses user satisfaction.
• Works cross-functionally to develop, implement and coordinate all testing approaches to systems to ensure applications operate correctly and business needs are met.
• Leverages understanding of Novo Nordisk functions to identify dependencies across projects and ensure their needs and requirements are translated into business solutions.
• Develops training plan and approach; coordinates training events.
• Analyzes new needs in determining solution approach and scope; assists in the buy or build analysis and decision making.
• Analyzes user requirements and develops functional specifications for complex systems.
• Assists project managers and systems managers in identifying skills/resources needed to implement a new system or to enhancing an existing system and in preparing rough estimates of a) cost of development; b) time required to implement.
• Utilizes advanced IT knowledge to uncover unmet needs of stakeholders within Novo Nordisk, and communicates them to the technical staff and ensure all needs are met.
• Ensures application/system design adheres to compliance requirements, SOX requirements, and other local/corporate technology standards.
• Leads and advises in the creation of detailed Functional Specifications defining application/system capabilities to be implemented along with accompanying data models/flows/timing and process models.
• Leads the RFI/RFP process in evaluating and recommending packaged software solutions and systems integrator selections for multichannel marketing applications/systems.
• Acts as a liaison between the business or function and vendor to provide updates and ensure alignment.
• Leads/assists in conducting data analysis and potential data process solutions (acquisition, transformation/load, delivery) catering to various informational needs of Novo Nordisk multichannel marketing systems.
• Leads/assists in the development of technical designs and specifications from functional specifications for complex systems; develops CD, UCD, WFD, DFD, DSD, DFD and other design documents; reconciles design models with business requirements; designs application/system prototypes when necessary.
• Utilizes advanced IT knowledge to diagnose and provide solutions to issues with applications and infrastructure.
• Analyzes and determines whether new technology will add value to current business processes.
• Prepares procedures in consultation with IT security for incorporating required data security and system security measures.
• Uses in-depth knowledge of current and emerging risk management practices, and provides insight into the long-term implications of changes to ensure the sustainability of processes, projects and systems.
• Utilizes, executes and participates in audits and assessments to analyze and evaluate incidents, documenting resolutions, and leads remediation to ensure compliance.
• Designs performance measures regarding health and operating quality of applications/systems and reviews them periodically with business users, system managers and other IT management as appropriate.
• Develops and governs procedures for incident management, problem management and change management functions for business critical systems; investigates problems and opportunities to determine the feasibility of a solution and the approach for providing appropriate solutions
• Facilitates and coordinates system audits by both internal audit and quality groups and external agencies.
• Handles requests for changes (RFCs) by assessing requests, determining system changes and cost/time estimates; provides assessment results and estimates to CAB.

Additional Information KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field; relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate; advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in software/data analysis/development experience required.
• Ability to design automated systems.
• Ability to design, conduct, and evaluate systems testing.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
• Ability to lead, coordinate the activities of, and provide technical support to project teams.
• Demonstrates leadership skills; acts as project lead and may lead a cross functional project team in the development and implementation of processes and programs.
• Ability to research and evaluate the suitability of automation software and hardware products.
• Data modeling experience - relational and dimensional - required. Experience in data flow documentation required. Experience with ERwin Data Modeler and related suite preferred.
• Excellent technical writing, document organization, technical document review and analytical thinking skills are required to accurately document and review highly technical details and assure document quality.
• Experience in analyzing and configuring third party software packages in one or more areas of Multichannel Marketing, CRM, ERP, Supply Chain, Clinical Data Management, Content Management, Contract Management and Pricing, Internet/Intranet, Data Warehousing and Business intelligence functions.
• Experience in developing and measuring system performance KPIs and conducting post-implementation reviews.
• Experience managing, integrating, and loading large volumes of data, especially as part of customer data integration projects like aggregate spend reporting.
• Expert knowledge of all phases of the project development cycle.
• Expert knowledge of documentation needs and techniques.
• Expert knowledge of productivity tools, computerized problem solving tools, and other work management techniques.
• Expert knowledge of structured systems methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of systems and data analysis and design techniques.
• Hands-on experience with multichannel marketing applications/systems and vendors preferred (Appature, AHM, etc.).
• Knowledge of CFR Title 21 Part 11 requirements, FDA regulated environments, industry practices on computer validation, and regulatory expectations of computerized systems.
• Knowledge of multichannel marketing concepts and best practices (especially those surrounding data flows) required.
• Knowledge of ITIL functions and roles.
• Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Unix and Linux), relational database architectures, query languages and interfaces, standard programming environments, data integration tools, application integration solutions, and web-based information solutions.
• Knowledge of Siebel CRM application, master data management concepts and underlying required data structures.
• Lead and participate in design reviews for both ETL and BI tool changes/enhancements ensuring that development meets design standards.
• Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team, taking on team leader responsibilities as needed.
• Understanding of one or more business areas in pharmaceutical industry from drug discovery and development through commercial operations, especially those related to multichannel marketing.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical-related data sources (e.g. IMS Xponent, IMS Xponent Plantrak, DDD, Managed Care Workbook, Wolters Kluwer, etc.)
