Novo Nordisk is recruiting a Global Medical Director to join the Global Medical Affairs Insulin department in the company headquarters outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. The position is a unique opportunity to work for a world leader in diabetes care and help improve the lives of people with diabetes worldwide.

About the department
The Global Medical Director will head up a team responsible for Global Medical Affairs deliverables for insulin degludec and degludec aspart. The team consists of highly motivated Medical Doctors with clinical, research, pharma-business insight, strong knowledge and experience in the area of diabetes.

The Job
Reporting to the VP, the Medical Director will work closely with the Medical and Science Team Directors, Global Medical Affairs Management, Global Brand Management, Global Market Access and Strategy teams and Novo Nordisk regions and affiliates. The Global Medical Director is responsible for the scientific management and communication and for the development of the Global Medical Affairs strategy incl. publication strategy in alignment with new scientific insights and product development set by the Global Project Team and the Core Commercializing Team. The position calls for a mature individual who can work as a strategic partner within interdisciplinary project teams and provide input to clinical development plans with a clinical and market perspective. Leadership qualifications must be evident e.g. from earlier leadership positions or project management.Externally, the Global Medical Director acts as a liaison between Novo Nordisk and the scientific community and is responsible for scientific meetings and conferences with high level and ground breaking scientific news and information.

The Director is responsible for scientific alignment and will facilitate that scientific knowledge is appropriately communicated and understood internally and externally from global to local across the world.

Qualifications
The candidate must have a background as Medical Doctor, preferably with PhD and/or specialist degree, clinical and/or research background in the area of diabetes with interest in advanced scientific analysis and communication. Previous line management and pharmaceutical experience is expected. The candidate must be action oriented, with a strong drive, and focus on results; Extrovert, engaged, customer-oriented and be a strong communicator; Team-player with good peer relationships; Well structured and perseverant; High integrity and good at solving problems; Flexible attitude, willingness to travel and motivated for personal development; fluent in both oral and written English (company language) and strong presentation skills.

The position is based in Denmark in Søborg (5 miles from the centre of Copenhagen). Extensive worldwide travel is a requirement.
