Assay Expert
- Research & Development
- Denmark - Måløv
We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic research scientist with expertise in assay development and plasma analysis of proteins for a permanent position with preferred start February, 2014.
About the department
The position is open in the Bioanalysis Team in the department of Exploratory ADME within the Novo Nordisk Biopharmaceutical Research Unit and is located in modern facilities north-west of Copenhagen. You will be part of a highly active and motivated group engaged in discovery activities directed towards the development of new drugs within Novo Nordisk’s increasing haemophilia and anti-inflammatory portfolio. The Bioanalysis Team consist of 4 Ph.D. and 6 technicians that provide exposure data to facilitate understanding of relationship between pharmacokinetics and efficacy of potential drug candidates in animal models.
The Job
The discovery work is organized in multidisciplinary project teams. In these teams, your main contribution will be bioanalytical support to pharmacokinetic and efficacy animal studies, and to contribute with assay expertise and biological/pharmacological understanding. The assays will include both chromogenic coagulation factor activity assays and immunoassays like ELISA. You will be responsible for developing new assays for novel compounds in biological matrices used to measure the activity and/or concentration of potential drug candidates or relevant biomarkers, for ensuring analysis of animal plasma samples, and for troubleshooting when assay problems occur. The laboratory work is performed in close collaboration with the skilled technical staff in the department.
Qualifications
We seek a professionally skilled scientist who holds a Ph.D. within e.g. biochemistry or pharmacy. You have substantial experience with assay development and you thrive when there is a need for assay optimization and problem solving. You have a deep understanding of quantitative analyses and a track record for testing proteins in plasma. Basic knowledge of the coagulation system, inflammation and pharmacokinetic concepts will be an advantage. You have a strong analytical mind-set, and your thoroughness and curiosity makes you an excellent assay specialist. You are responsible and persistent, and you are able to ensure progress of many tasks at a time. Finally, excellent communication skills, team working ability and the capability to work in an interdisciplinary environment are essential.
