Requisition ID 42455BR<br/>Title Director, Business Applications - Diabetes and Obesity Marketing<br/>Job Category IT<br/>Job Description PURPOSE:<br/>This is the lead role in the IT organization dedicated to supporting the Diabetes and Obesity Marketing (DOM) business unit. This opportunity spans a wide range of business processes from multi-channel digital marketing to promotional materials to supporting new product launches. This is a large and diverse business unit which needs a strong IT partner to identify opportunities to apply technology in support of their business objectives.<br/><br/>RELATIONSHIPS:<br/>This position reports to the Vice President, Information Technology and is a member of the IT Leadership team. Manages a team of System and Project Managers and individual contributors responsible for the execution of development and maintenance of business applications and new projects. This position is also responsible for vendor management activities with external service providers used in the development and support of applications. This position interacts on a day-to-day basis with line of business senior management to ensure strong partnership and appropriate prioritization of business needs.<br/><br/>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<br/>* Leverages knowledge of the business and industry to influence and impact the decision-making process and the development of future strategies<br/>* Serves as a valued advisor to stakeholders by anticipating needs and developing solutions that are aligned with business strategies<br/>* Develops and/or implements software solutions which fully meet the business requirements<br/>* Utilizes knowledge of Line of Business (LoB) processes, tactical and strategic goals, and external drivers as well as knowledge of internal IT capabilities and standards and industry standards and trends to inform and direct the IT strategy for business partner functions<br/>* As the primary IT liaison between IT and Executive Team members (ET), develops and communicates tactical and strategic plans that provide solutions for local affiliate or global business needs<br/>* Collaborates with global IT leadership to ensure IT strategies and global initiatives meet the corporate and local business needs<br/>* Manages the relationship with global IT teams and the expectations of senior management to ensure understanding and alignment on global projects<br/>* Defines the application architecture and strategy consistent with global and local strategy and business needs<br/>* Generates commitment and drives actions to maximize the impact of key IT initiatives on business strategies and outcomes<br/>* Leads in development of LoB and global IT strategies through application of extensive knowledge of LoB business goals and IT industry<br/>* Evaluates and recommends new and innovative application systems, tools and technologies which are consistent with the architecture, strategy and business need<br/>* Defines and implements tools and technologies to enhance the productivity of the applications development teams<br/>* Establishes and ensures compliance with budgets and forecasts for the application area supported including upgrade planning, maintenance, and licensing<br/>* Utilizes advanced IT knowledge to diagnose and provide solutions to issues with applications and infrastructure<br/>* Utilizes advanced knowledge of relevant IT areas to support Novo Nordisk through the system life cycle<br/>* Ensures PMs have sufficient resources to execute projects and that resources are efficiently allocated to manage requirements and constraints of scope, budget, schedule, and risk<br/>* Ensures that project adheres to NN IT Project Management Methodology (ITPMM)<br/>* Provides direction to Project Managers (PMs) to ensure successful execution and delivery of projects<br/>* Serves as Steering Committee (StC) member for projects to ensure that stakeholder engagement and alignment are maintained<br/>* Ensures project team is providing effective communication of project status and issues to StC<br/>* Fosters strategic relationships by communicating vision and organizational plans to ensure vendors are aligned with organizational objectives, and builds effective relationships with vendors<br/>* Reviews and evaluates vendor performance (i.e., against KPIs and SLAs) to ensure that services is successful, and identifies areas for improvement<br/>* Evaluates vendors as part of RFI and RFP processes<br/>* Manages relationship with vendors to achieve compliance with contract terms<br/>* Evaluates vendor performance and promptly addresses performance issues with vendors to ensure project deliverables are not jeopardized<br/>* Utilizes advanced knowledge of risk management standards<br/>* Ensures compliance with all change management, validation and Sarbox requirements<br/>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<br/>0-10% overnight travel required<br/><br/>DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE:<br/>* Ensure that reporting personnel have 3P forms with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process<br/>* Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility<br/>* Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way<br/>* Develops team members to ensure ongoing pipeline of talent to meet organizational needs<br/>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:<br/>* A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred<br/>* A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible Computer Science, IT, programming/systems analysis or other related experience is required<br/>* A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is required<br/>* Strong knowledge of life sciences/pharmaceutical industry is required<br/>* Advanced understanding of regulatory agency and compliance requirements (FDA) in a pharmaceutical environment, including the understanding of compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, PDMA, SoX and GxP is required<br/>* Experience with a broad range of applications and technologies including cloud technology, "big data" concepts, and privacy and security technologies is required<br/>* Experience leveraging data visualization tools such as Tableau and Qlik is strongly preferred<br/>* Experience working in a global structure is strongly preferred<br/>* Experience managing cross-functional projects and/or operational teams, management of IT personnel across Software Development Lifecycle including initiation, design, development, deployment, and support is required<br/>* A solid working knowledge of IT policies and procedures is required<br/>* Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle and IT Project Management methodologies is required<br/>* Must have the demonstrated ability to develop and execute multiyear business and IT strategies<br/>* Must have a proven track record of strong people management skills, including developing employees and manager of others<br/>* Must have the ability to develop comprehensive, long-range strategic plans and practical implementation strategies<br/>* Must have the ability to serve as an advisor to management and business partners on advanced technical projects<br/>* Must be a demonstrated problem solver and negotiator<br/>* Strong conflict management skills requiredMust have superior written and oral communication skills<br/><br/>Department FIN - IT<br/>Position Location US - Princeton, NJ<br/>City Plainsboro<br/>State/Provinces US - NJ <br/><br/>At Novo Nordisk, we know that driving change on a global level and improving treatment outcomes for people with diabetes and other chronic diseases begins here at home.
