Requisition ID 40849BR<br/>Title Associate Director, Category Management<br/>Job Category Procurement<br/>Job Description PURPOSE<br/><br/>Oversees the effective operation, execution and coordination of the Marketing, Sales and Commercial Effectiveness Category Portfolio within the Procurement Function at Novo Nordisk Inc. Acts as a strategic partner to functional areas within the company, to lead the development and achievement of sourcing goals. Influences senior leaders within these organizations in setting direction for their functional areas by linking sourcing and business strategies in order to optimize business results.<br/><br/>RELATIONSHIPS<br/><br/>This position reports directly to the Director of Category Management and interacts with the Marketing, Sales and Commercial Effectiveness Leaders and their teams, budget managers and key suppliers of goods/ services. Interacts with the Procurement Operations regularly to ensure effective client support. Manages multiple direct reports focused on category management and strategic sourcing activities.<br/><br/>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<br/>* Builds effective relationships with key stakeholders to gain alignment of procurement and process improvement strategies and plans. Defines strategies for vendor partnerships, including (but not limited to) vendor selection, contract negotiation, governance, and termination.<br/>* Develops and executes procurement and category strategies which are aligned with business objectives.<br/>* Develops spend analytics to enable effective and aligned procurement strategies.<br/>* Drives innovation and the development of potential new suppliers and alternate sources.<br/>* Drives the achievement of savings targets in support of overall company goals.<br/>* Keeps abreast of changing technology and global market trends that influence cost, quality and value.<br/>* Leads and organizes the Marketing, Sales & Commercial Effectiveness procurement functions to become best in class.<br/>* Leads the procurement and negotiations of key contracts. Represents the company at industry procurement functions and present at company meetings as required.<br/>* Provides insight to the Senior Director, NNI Procurement in overseeing the development, monitoring and analysis of key procurement metrics for continuous improvement.<br/>* Proactively looks for synergies across the organization to reduce costs and leverage resources.<br/>* Supports strategic direction to drive Supplier Diversity Program within assigned category areas.<br/>* Understands legal and commercial aspects of negotiations and contract management to ensure optimal positioning for NNI.<br/>DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE:<br/>* Ensure that development and training plans are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of the goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.<br/>* Ensure that reporting personnel have Performance Achievement Plans with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on the priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.<br/>* Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way in support of our Triple Bottom Line.<br/>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:<br/>* Requires a minimum of 8-10 years progressively responsible experience in Procurement, with relevant marketing, market research, pharmaceutical or consulting experience considered a plus to your candidacy.<br/>* Three or more years of supervisory experience required.<br/>* A Bachelor’s Degree required, solid relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate. Advanced degree or MBA preferred.<br/>* Must possess a broad knowledge base across multiple categories of purchases and be well versed in sourcing methodology, process and negotiations.<br/>* Ability to deliver presentations to all levels within the organization.<br/>* Ability to manage multiple internal relationships at all levels of the business with the ability to interface with senior level management concerning matters of importance.<br/>* Must be able to manage multiple projects, effectively using multi-disciplinary resources to meet demands.<br/>* Must be able to work autonomously, exercise good business judgment and take decisive action.<br/>* Previous consulting experience a plus.<br/>* Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision and engage people in that vision.<br/><br/>Department FIN - PROCUREMENT & BUS SERVICES (1c)<br/>Position Location US - Princeton, NJ<br/>City Princeton<br/>State/Provinces US - NJ <br/><br/>At Novo Nordisk, we know that driving change on a global level and improving treatment outcomes for people with diabetes and other chronic diseases begins here at home.
