Requisition ID 44217BR<br/>Title Sr. Associate, Federal Government Affairs<br/>Job Category Government Affairs<br/>Job Description PURPOSE:<br/>Assists the Director and Senior Manager in Government Affairs and other Federal Team members as assigned, in activities related to the design and execution of grassroots and Political Action Committee (PAC) programs to advance diabetes public policy and defend the company’s products and positions.<br/><br/>RELATIONSHIPS:<br/>Reports to the Senior Manager, Federal Government Affairs. Interacts with internal parties as appropriate, including board/committees such as those related to the PAC, and external parties, including consultants working for Novo Nordisk (NNI), trade associations, law firms, vendors and other entities. Interacts with various people internally, including those involved in forming NNI’s positions on public policy issues. May occasionally interact with members of the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. Position will be based in the Washington, D.C. office.<br/><br/>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<br/>* Updates issue content on ACT for Diabetes and Act for NNI website every quarter, and helps to create grassroots alerts for ACT for Diabetes and Novo Nordisk<br/>* Assists in the implementation of PAC strategy, communications, and day-to-day activities, including compliance activities; this includes, but is not limited to:<br/>* Assisting in the development of PAC recruitment strategy and messaging as well as create internal marketing plans and recruitment plans to increase employee participation in the PAC<br/>* Keeping PAC Board and other internal stakeholders engaged on all PAC activities and manage all PAC and execute recruiting strategies<br/>* Providing personalized PAC member maintenance including updates to disbursements, gifts, charities, and invitations to special events<br/>* Developing and maintaining a strategic PAC budget for 5 federal lobbyists to ensure that the PAC’s giving is in line with current breakdown of Congress<br/><br/>* Assists in the coordination and implementation of Government Affairs Advocacy Days, including, but not limited to:<br/>* Helping coordinate NNI’s bi-annual lobby days<br/>* Developing participant training and all materials for use in training for Advocacy Day hill meetings<br/>* Developing and executing follow-up plans for participants and implement within 45 and 90 days<br/>* Leading training calls for Advocacy Day participants prior to their attendance<br/>* Leading participants on Advocacy Day on the Hill and lobby members of Congress and staff<br/><br/>* Coordinates as appropriate with outside organizations, patient groups, and other stakeholders as appropriate, including the Healthcare Leadership Council and similar organizations<br/>* Collaborates with federal team partners on Capitol Hill-related events and communications<br/>* Partners with federal team leadership on the development of NNI advocacy communications for use in lobbying activities, grassroots, and employee engagement<br/>* Updates issue content on ACT for Diabetes and Act for Novo Nordisk website every quarter, and helps to create grassroots alerts for ACT for Diabetes and NNI<br/>* Liaises with relevant PAC and grassroots vendors as appropriate<br/>* Requests analysis from other NNI departments<br/>* Engages in projects such as research and drafting memos and other documents related to diabetes public policy and industry issues as assigned<br/><br/>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<br/>* 10-20% overnight travel required<br/>* May require monthly visits to Plainsboro, NJ office<br/><br/>QUALIFICATIONS:<br/>* A Bachelor’s degree is required<br/>* A minimum of 3 years’ of experience in federal legislative or public policy making activities required<br/>* Policy environment experience is preferred<br/>* A understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry issues is preferred<br/>* Must have the ability to work under tight deadlines, with little or no supervision required<br/>* Must be results-focused with a prior track record of success<br/><br/>Department PA - GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS (2)<br/>Position Location US - Washington, DC<br/>City Washington, D.C.<br/>State/Provinces US - DC
