Senior Data Management Scientist
- Research & Development
- Denmark - Måløv
Bioprocess Technology (BPT) is looking for an experienced data management scientist to work on design, implementation and support of BPTs data warehouse and work flow tracking program.
About the department
The four departments of BPT define the functional area of the Novo Nordisk Biopharmaceutical Research Unit (BRU) that supports our research projects with cloning, expression, purification, cell culture and bioprocess development.
The job
Data management is one of our focus areas in an on-going effort to improve the competitiveness, productivity, and decision making processes. As senior data management scientist your primary focus will be on design and implementation of databases and work flow tracking systems that cover the work flow through our departments from molecular cloning and variant generation to cell culture and protein purification. A continuous effort of BPT is implementation of automation and high-throughput techniques and data management support of these focus areas will be a major part of your job. As the work flows are founded on molecular methods, significant parts of the data warehouse will embrace biological sequence handling, storage and analysis. You will work on ensuring capture and storage of BPT data in our corporate databases and aid in establishing frameworks to and from the databases of neighbouring functional areas. You will be located in the Department of Molecular automation and will work closely together with the data management scientist of the Immuno-technology function as well as scientist from our corporate computational sciences department. You will be working in a challenging research environment where we work together with dedicated scientists across the organization, including core facility specialists within the automation, haemostasis, immuno-technology, cell culture and protein technology fields. The position offers excellent opportunities for developing scientific and personal competences within an international organization. We value a positive, honest and responsible attitude and strive for high scientific standards to secure progress for our teams and projects.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate has a proven track record within data management, data warehousing, work flow analysis and tracking. You master advanced application programming, databases (e.g. Oracle RDBMS) and have experience within bioinformatics. You hold a relevant scientific degree (biology, biochemistry, engineering or similar) supplemented with a PhD and 5 years post-doctoral experience. You have a proven track record within data management and analysis from an industrial scientific setting and have insight into the molecular methods that are applied when going from idea to purified protein. You are an experienced programmer capable of translating wishes from a diverse portfolio of scientist and technicians into software and databases that enhances workflow transparency, speed and throughput. Preferably, you have insight into equipment data in- and output enabling setup of systems to catch and store data in a timely manner. Efficient communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing are some of your core qualities as well as being flexible and capable of adapting in an often changing research environment. Solid English capabilities are required for writing documentation and for efficient communication with colleagues across the world. You further understand the intellectual property, regulatory, quality and practical requirements involved in the development of recombinant proteins.
At Novo Nordisk, we strive for excellence. As a world leader in diabetes care and a major player in haemostasis management, growth hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy, we offer our employees opportunities for continuous growth.
