Research Scientist

- Research & Development
- Denmark - Måløv

Department of Protein Science is seeking a talented protein scientist with considerable experience in either protein mass spectrometry or surface plasmon resonance for a permanent position as senior research scientist. If you are a high performing professional, and wish to employ your skills in a strong research organization you may be the candidate we are looking for. The start date will be January 1st 2014.

About the Department
The Protein Science department is part of the Biopharmaceuticals Research Unit in Måløv, Denmark and currently includes twelve scientists and twelve technicians all highly skilled in different aspects of protein characterization by primarily mass spectrometry (MS), and surface plasmon resonance (SPR). In the department you will be part of a pleasant and cooperative working environment, which will be your basis for working together with world class scientists from the entire research organization on finding novel protein therapeutics for treatment of haemophilia, growth disorders, and autoimmune inflammatory diseases.

The job
Your primary responsibility will be characterization of proteins in projects spanning from the earliest discovery phase to projects undergoing transfer to our development organization. The identification and quantification of proteins and protein modifications by MS will be an important part of the work, and ideally you have strong experience with quantitative forms of MS. You may be involved in protein purification and protein interaction studies. You may be responsible for supervision of laboratory technicians.

Qualifications
You are qualified at PhD level and have a proven record of relevant research. You have solid practical experience with protein work in general, and with MS characterization of proteins in particular. Preferably you have worked with MS for quantification of proteins or protein modifications. However, substantial experience with SPR or similar biosensors may be an alternative qualification for applying. Experience with protein purification will be an additional advantage. Since you will be the protein specialist in interdisciplinary project teams it is required that you are good at communicating, and that you show a high degree of initiative both in the interaction with colleagues and in the implementation of novel methods and technologies that may be required to solve project needs. As a person you are well-organized, proactive in your engagement in project based work, and at the same time capable of working independently.

At Novo Nordisk, your skills, dedication and ambition will help us change lives for the better. In exchange, we offer you an opportunity to work with extraordinary talent and benefit from a range of possibilities for professional and personal development.
