For the strategic team in the Novo Nordisk Foundation we seek a Scientific Officer and a secretary.

As an employee at the Novo Nordisk Foundation you will become part of an ambitious team, which has an international outlook and strives to make a difference for research and society.

Scientific Officer

The job
A key task will be to assist the Strategic Scientific Officer to ensure the effective planning and execution of the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s strategic projects. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day contact with relevant stakeholders and for organizing peer reviews.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for the implementation and follow-up on stand-alone grants, including preparation of grant agreements and coordinating reviews.

You will also be preparing and providing input to publications about the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s grant activities targeted at a broad range of audiences.

Qualifications
We expect you to have a PhD degree in bioscience (e.g. medicine, biology, biotechnology) and several years of experience in project/research management. Furthermore, it is important that you have proven ability to communicate complex scientific information to a broad range of audiences and have comprehensive understanding of the nature and culture of science.

Your ability to understand, analyse and communicate research results, research projects, and research evaluations is excellent. Furthermore, you understand concepts and practices with regard to research in the public and private sectors.

It is important that you are able to manage several complex projects simultaneously and have excellent communication skills both in writing and verbally, especially in English.

In addition, you are quality-conscious, goal-oriented, and use your initiative to identify solutions.

Secretary

The job
As secretary for the Strategic Scientific Officer you will be handling various administrative functions, incl. meeting planning, meeting minutes, contact to research centres, follow-up on budgets and costs, as well as coordination in connection with meetings and evaluations.

You will furthermore have a role as Event Manager, where you will be responsible for booking, planning and execution of events/meetings. You will have contact to institutions, conference/course locations, and various suppliers.

In addition, you will be responsible for the administration of the Foundation’s grants for humanitarian and social causes.

Qualifications
We expect you to have an office background from a research environment (preferably bioscientific) or similar and experience with arranging events/meetings/conferences. You are focused on delivering results of high quality and are a proficient user of the Microsoft Office package, preferably super user. Furthermore, understanding of the nature and culture of science is an advantage.

We are looking for an extrovert person, who thrives in a position with many contacts, is systematic, takes initiative, and has the ability to manage a large number of diverse tasks simultaneously and to meet agreed goals and deadlines.

In addition, you have flair for numbers/accounting/IT and excellent communication skills in English and Danish, both in writing and verbally.
