Senior Research Scientist: Protein Biophysics and HX-MS
- Research & Development
- Denmark - Måløv
Department of Protein Structure and Biophysics at Novo Nordisk A/S is seeking a protein scientist with experience within protein biophysics, protein structure and mass spectrometry, preferably hydrogen-deuterium exchange-MS (HX-MS).
About the department
Department of Protein Structure and Biophysics is part of a protein technology platform in Biopharmaceutical Research Unit at Novo Nordisk devoted to the development of protein therapeutics in research projects within haemophilia, inflammation and growth hormone therapy. The department is responsible for three dimensional protein structure determination including design and bioinformatics; for biophysical characterisation including protein stability and early protein formulation; and furthermore, for mapping of protein:protein interactions by HX-MS. HX-MS is becoming increasingly used for determination of interactions and dynamics of proteins and protein complexes.
The job
Your responsibility will be to be part of a dedicated and highly motivated team with strong expertise, and well equipped with state of the art equipment, to allow advanced biophysical characterisation and research within structural biology at high level.
You will participate in discovery project-related research activities in interdisciplinary
teams including biotechnology, biology and pharmacology across the Biopharmaceutical Research Unit in Denmark as well as internationally with good opportunities for professional and personal development.
Your main tasks will be to include biophysical characterisation and analysis of protein stability in combination with structure based understanding to assist drug development and selection. Preferably you will also be involved in determination of protein:protein interfaces by HX-MS. Furthermore, securing Intellectual property rights (IPR) within protein interactions, design and formulation will also be a part of your daily work.
Qualifications
You have practical experience and state of the art knowledge within biophysical characterisation and mass spectrometry techniques; preferably HX-MS. Structural understanding of proteins and experience with three dimensional structure determination of proteins is an advantage. Experience with IPR generation of proteins is also an advantage. You should be qualified at the PhD level, have post-degree experience and a proven record of relevant research. Excellent communicative skills are required. At the same time your personal qualifications should include the ability to work in a team, to be flexible, goal oriented, innovative and have a good sense of humour.
At Novo Nordisk, we strive for excellence. As a world leader in diabetes care and a major player in haemostasis management, growth hormone therapy and hormone replacement therapy, we offer our employees opportunities for continuous growth.
