If you find it exciting and inspiring to be a part of a research team developing new insulin analogues for new and better treatment of diabetes, you may be our new in vivo pharmacologist in the Insulin Pharmacology Department.
About the department
The job is located in the Insulin Pharmacology Department, Diabetes Research Unit (DRU). We are 26 people in total (1 Director, 9 pharmacologists, 14 technicians, 2 PhD students). We work in small teams of 1 pharmacologist and 2-3 technicians. Our teams support the insulin research projects in DRU with pharmacological and pharmacokinetic studies and expert knowledge in the process of bringing new insulin candidates forward to clinical trials.
The job
As Research Scientist in our department your primary responsibilities will be to design and conduct pharmacological in vivo studies in rodent models and to develop new animal models and methods within the area of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. You will coordinate the work of 1-2 technicians and will be expected to motivate and develop your team. You will be the department’s representative in research projects where we expect you to seek influence based on the data you generate and by keeping up to date with the scientific literature. You will be encouraged to maintain your previous network and to establish new contacts to external collaborators. You will report to the Director of the department, and your internal contacts in your daily work will be scientist colleagues, technicians and project members, as well as project managers in DRU.
Qualifications
You are a veterinarian, MD, biologist, or have a similar degree within natural sciences. You hold a PhD or have an equivalent postgraduate scientific background. Preferably you have extensive experience from academia and/or the pharmaceutical industry, but you could also come with a sound scientific background and a drive for developing your expertise within insulin pharmacology. It is a requirement that you have in vivo pharmacology experience, preferably within the area of diabetes or metabolic diseases. You are a great team player, have good communications skills, and are fluent in English. On a personal level, you are proactive, responsible and result-driven with an open mind. Your main interest is pharmacology and physiology and you enjoy scientific discussions with people of different professional backgrounds. You have had significant impact on a strong record of successful multidisciplinary collaborations. You are highly motivated by biological mysteries and it is important that you enjoy sharing knowledge and expertise. You master written and spoken English and you adapt easily to changes.
At Novo Nordisk, we create value by putting patients first. Every ten seconds two people are diagnosed with diabetes, and close to 366 million people worldwide need us. Working here is not just a way to make a living, but a way to make a difference.
