Job Description PURPOSE:
Within Field Medical Affairs (FMA), this position functions as a regional medical advisor for Novo Nordisk Inc
(NNI) and key external customers to further scientific exchange. S/he provides specialized and advanced
Medical support and effective account management strategies and education within Integrated Health
Systems and Delivery Networks. S/he ensures product and field scientific advanced support to Medical, Sales
and Marketing, as well as Institutions and Managed Markets (MM) by using academic credentials and
scientific expertise to communicate with health care providers and organizations.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Position reports to Field Director/Sr Field Director/ or Executive Director.
Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs with the Regional, Endo and
MM/Institutions FMA teams, Health Systems Manager (HSM), Health Systems District Business Managers
(HS-DBMs) and Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR) personnel. Key external relationships
management include assigned Integrated Health Networks (IHNs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and key
formulary influencers (KFIs) within the IHNs, and other regional KOLs (outside the IHNs) as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively completes monthly reports on scientific support activities in region to
the FMA Field management team as directed.
- Records and leads all activities within the OSS system in accordance with FMA
procedures and guidelines.
- Secures and maintains effective administrative management of regional business as well as expense reports, operational, and educational budgets.
- Attends and presents at assigned medical and scientific meetings and symposia: a) ensures and maintains thorough knowledge of the latest and current issues and new data pertaining to NNI products; b) develops, establishes and maintain relationships with key IHN providers and management staff; c) Conveys appropriate use of NNI products and greater utilization of its services and d) supports and assists HSMs in answering unsolicited questions within IHNs. d) interface with assigned KOLs within the region.
-Combines account management skills, business acumen, and scientific expertise to enhance value and develop collaborative relationships.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Key Formulary Influencers (KFIs) and provides optimal clinical and scientific support consistent with FMA directions and overall Novo Nordisk strategies.
- Establishes the medical account strategy/plan through the identification and cultivation of key relationships and brings forth appropriate collaboration opportunities.
- Gathers customer insight regarding NNI and competitors products to help inform medical and commercial decision making
- Leads and manages an ongoing clinical “influence mapping” effort within each IHN, and manages internal effort to secure the appropriate FMA resource for the appropriate customer utilizing a “matrix team” approach in allocating FMA support within each IHNs and leveraging the Regional ML and the RMS within the IHN.
-Maintains a thorough/advanced and detailed working knowledge of Novo Nordisk, its products, current scientific research and publications associated with same.
- Participates and presents in special Regional and National projects e.g. team meetings, training, Strategic coordination, etc.
- Responds to unsolicited inquiries and questions within the IHNs to establish and/or further the knowledge on Novo Nordisk products and related topics.
- Understands and adheres to legal and regulatory guidelines of pharmaceutical industry.
-Works with HSMs, HS-DBMs and FMA management team to establish ongoing collaborative relations with chief executives, key administrators and other key decision makers within the IHNs.
- Assists FMA Field Director with planning and delivering presentations at MM and regional POAs and other relevant internal meetings.
- Assists with educating HSMs and HS-DCSs on product knowledge and understanding of technical information within the therapeutic area.
- Coordinates and participates in development of symposia and continuing education seminars for health care providers within the IHNs/or for other healthcare providers on subjects relevant to Novo Nordisk products as directed.
-Collaborates and partners with Managed Markets, Regional and RMS and with cross-functional field management to develop scientific strategies to optimize Novo Nordisk’s products, services and development activities within the respective IHNs.
-Collaborates and partners with respective HSM to provide advanced scientific and clinical education to Chief Executives, Medical Directors, and formulary stakeholders to secure proper access to Novo Nordisk’s products and services in respective IHNs.
- Collaborates with Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team to deliver scientific value proposition of Novo Nordisk’s products and Devices to Key customers and formulary decision makers. Delivers HEOR presentations upon request.
- Coordinates and partners with key internal stakeholders to provide customized and dedicated system-wide clinical education and support within respective IHNs and coordinate and manage professional relations of Novo Nordisk within these Networks from an overall “account management” level.
- Develops and presents product and advanced scientific educational updates for Formulary presentations within IHNs as requested and using approved material.
-Participates and facilitates submission of potential Pharmaco-Economic and Outcomes Research-type studies and investigator-initiated studies from the IHNs and refer requests for research grants to the appropriate in-house review committees as directed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Approximately 40-60% travel with overnight.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A PharmD degree or other Doctoral degree required.
Account management and/or project management experience preferred.
At least three years’ experience in Managed Care, Pharmaco-Economics, or Health System management
strongly preferred.
Extensive diabetes knowledge and/or patient care experience strongly preferred
