Job Description PURPOSE:
The Finance Rotational Leadership Program (FRLP) is a two (2) year program that provides a multi-disciplinary learning and development opportunity designed to provide the associate with both depth and breadth of knowledge and practical experience in corporate finance and the pharmaceutical industry. Throughout the program, the associate will have the opportunity to interact with and present to senior level management.
The purpose of the position is to provide a graduate the opportunity to complete two (2) rotations at Novo Nordisk (NNI) in the areas of Finance – Treasury & Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and one International rotation. In Treasury & Tax, the individual will focus on cash flow forecasting, annual repatriation, transfer pricing, financial tax reporting, tax planning, and ad hoc finance projects. In FP&A, the individual will participate in the budget and closing processes including, spending recommendations, commentary, presentations, and interpretation to management, as well as adherence to prescribed internal controls. Communicates operational performance trends, suggest future trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications. The international rotation will provide the incumbent a unique opportunity to gain valuable international work experience within the Finance organization of one of our international affiliates or in Bagsværd, Denmark.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the rotational manager within specified department. Works closely with other members of that department and may directly support VPs or Senior Directors on select assignments, as well as key stakeholders in other functional areas. Associate is encouraged to build and sustain a network of Plainsboro, NJ and global colleagues to foster organizational understanding and visibility to future prospects. External relationships include those with professional organizations and professional services vendors (e.g., ad agencies, consulting firms). Seeks mentoring from his/her manager for each rotation across the lifecycle of the program. The mentoring relationship is intended to supplement effective coaching, development and performance enhancement we expect from all managers in the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Complete and timely execution of all assignments by the Program Manager and/or Rotation Manager in line with annual plan of the organization
• Learn and develop throughout the program, with a focus on gaining an overview of the NNI organization (including general knowledge of the business, the products, the customers, and the competitors); particularly of the NNI Finance organization and developing an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry in which NNI operates
• Understands the Novo Nordisk Way with a focus on individual contribution to the Triple Bottom Line and incorporate these ideals into all actions and decision-making processes
• Uses a process improvement mindset, contributing to the development and improvement of assigned department in respect to processes, procedures, policies and internal/external compliance requirements
• Performs complex analyses, identifies trends and insights, and translates data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations
• Responsible for the completion and transmission of monthly financial statement reports, analytics, and commentary to local and HQ management
• Responsible for ensuring adherence to prescribed internal controls and documenting such adherence, as necessary, in conjunction with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Responsible for mastering and becoming expert in various financial systems such as Business Warehouse, Global Financial Planning, SAP R/3 and ESSBASE, as required
• Contributes to Plainsboro, NJ tax team in maintenance, realization, and maximization of research and development, as well as State and Local tax incentives for North American Affiliates including process enhancements
• Contributes to the internal or external completion of tax planning initiatives that minimize Global, US Federal, US State or Local, Puerto Rico and Canadian tax liabilities
• Build, review, improve and maintain processes and policies to ensure internal and external tax and financial compliance

Approximately 5% overnight travel

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• A recent (i.e., within last 18 months) MBA, MS, or MA degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a business environment required Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required; experience with a variety of additional technology applications (e.g., SAP) preferred
• Must have proven leadership skills with a track record of success and the ability to demonstrate initiative and think creatively
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have strong project management skills
• Must have the ability to adapt to new marketplaces and environments as dictated by the business
• Must have the ability to assist in leading a project in the development and implementation of processes and programs
• Must have the ability to function in a project leadership role
