Job Description PURPOSE:
Acts as a strategic and tactical consultant to the Human Resources Department and is responsible for conducting investigations related to employment matters. The Human Resources Business Partner - Employee Investigations is also responsible for facilitating the achievement of business goals through consistent and thorough management of employee relations issues and leverages knowledge of the business and industry to influence and impact decision-making processes, and contribute to the creation and execution of business strategies The Employee Relations Investigator is also instrumental in providing training on employee relations and other related topics.
RELATIONSHIPS:
The position reports directly to the Manager, Employee Relations. This position will partner closely with Human Resources Business Partners, , as well as the Legal and Compliance Departments and Line of Business, to investigate all employment-related matters including, but not limited to, claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and/or other violations of Company policy. The Human Resources Business Partner, Employee Investigations will also partner with external vendors, as well as human resource organizations and associations, as necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in the development and implementation of Employee Relations and Investigation Training
• Partners with Human Resources Business Partners and the Legal and Compliance departments to identify trends and high risk findings and then determine appropriate resolution
• Partners closely with the Legal and/or Compliance departments to conduct employment-related investigations including claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, as well as other violations of company policy including, but not limited to, call falsification, expense report fraud, certain violations of the code of conduct, violations of the respectful workplace policy, violations of the conflicts of interest policy and other company policies
• Prepares comprehensive investigatory reports following an investigation
• Provide input into the development of human resources policies and processes in Employee Relations and other related areas
• Oversees maintenance of Employee Relations files and oversees quarterly audits of Employee Relations files
• Serves as Subject Matter Expert in the Employee Relations file process
• Responsible for onboarding new Human Resources business partners on Employee Relations processes, investigative process, etc
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of the laws and policies that affect the HR processes, programs and/or strategies
• Monitors changes in laws and policies, and provides recommendations for improving HR initiatives so they are aligned with Legal and Regulatory guidelines
• Assist in development of Employee Relations tools and resources for Human Resources Business Partner’s use
• Leverages analytical findings of Employee Relations data to identify organizational, functional, and systemic trends
• Develops and communicates compelling, fact-based rationales on investigative findings that contain strong, logical arguments that build support for one’s perspective and initiatives
• Delivers messages and presentations to Human Resources Business Partners, Employment Attorneys, and line of business on investigative findings
• Promotes the fair and equitable treatment of employees involved in investigations
• Demonstrates knowledge of internal business operations and applies this knowledge to Employee Relations process, projects, and investigations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Approximately 10-20% overnight travel

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree required; relevant experience and/or certification in specialized HR function may be substituted for degree when appropriate
• Requires a minimum of 6 years HR experience, generalist and/or Employee Relations experience preferred
• Experience conducting workplace investigations preferred
• Ability to identify and define problems as well as develop and implement fact-based solutions
• Ability to prepare comprehensive investigative reports and present ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, as well as review the work of others and provide appropriate conclusions and feedback
• Ability to research and analyze information to arrive at valid conclusions, action plans, and recommendations when appropriate
• Solid working knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, state and federal employee relations laws and regulations, and general Human Resources administration
• Maintains confidentiality as required; Demonstrates sound business and professional ethics
• Must have a history of working with employment attorneys and advising senior management on employee relations issues
• Must have strong problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a team environment
• Must have the ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion with high level of accuracy
